Sometimes the hardest part is not knowing what to expect. Ready to Ride gives children a calm, pressure-free way to become familiar with a school bus before a real ride is involved.
Make the unfamiliar more predictable.
Using RTD's stationary bus, a child can see the steps, seats, doors, exits, lights, equipment, and common features at their own pace with a parent, caregiver, or trusted adult nearby.
A child can begin by simply seeing the bus and becoming comfortable with the setting.
Time to look, ask, and understand.
The experience can be useful for first-time riders and children who benefit from additional preparation, including children with sensory sensitivities, anxiety, or discomfort around an unfamiliar bus environment.
RTD focuses on the child's comfort and the experience itself rather than labels. There is no requirement to ride, perform, or finish a checklist.

The visit can stay broad and simple, or focus on the specific parts of the bus environment a child wants to understand in advance.
